Boone County Pedestrian Bridge Engineering & Design
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided evaluation, design, and cost estimates of the superstructure and substructure for a single span pedestrian bridge that connects campground A to campground B in the Don Williams Recreation Area in Boone County.
Boone County Nature Center Design and Engineering
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided design alternatives for a Nature Center building in Boone County.
Boone County Fish Barrier- Design and Engineering
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided an evaluation of the spillway at the Don Williams Recreation Area and design of a barrier to prevent the loss of game and pan fish, and the related cost estimates.
Boone County Amphitheater Engineering & Design
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided design alternatives for a "natural" amphitheater in Boone County's Don Williams Park, featuring materials native to Iowa, a functional stage and structure, trail connections, evaluation of flood events, and related cost estimates.
Boone County- High Trestle Trail Information Center Engineering & Design
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided a design for an information building/shelter at Grant’s Woods located just north of the High Trestle Trail trailhead, site improvements, and related cost estimates.
Keokuk County River Channel Mitigation
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering student designed a method to protect county roads and bridges from the migration of the Skunk River in Keokuk County.
City of Beacon City Hall Design
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students designed a new city hall building for the City of Beacon, and provided recommendations for teardown and disposal of the existing building, including ways to divert materials from the landfill.
Bellevue Residential Site Development
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students created designs for development of a new residential neighborhood in Bellevue, as well as a stormwater management plan for the site.
Clinton - Jacobsen Buildings Structural Redesign
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students created a design concept and engineering report for the functional reuse of upper-story space in the Jacobson building, a prominent and historic landmark in downtown Clinton.
Clinton - Downtown Commercial Building Rehabilitation (239 5th Ave South)
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students created designs for refurbishing and connecting upper stories for three commercial structures in downtown Clinton.
Clinton - Downtown Commercial Building Rehabilitation (241-247 5th Ave South)
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students created designs for refurbishing a commercial structure in downtown Clinton.
Clinton representatives requested the evaluation and refurbishing plan for a century old building back to house viable commercial enterprises. The scope of work included third floor renovations, addition of a passenger elevator, fire protection, and façade restoration.
Webster City White Fox Creek Bridge Engineering & Design
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided designs and costs estimates for a pedestrian bridge spanning the White Fox Creek in Kendall Young Park within Webster City.
