Webster City Wetlands Engineering & Design
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided the design of a constructed wetlands for stormwater management, giving consideration to the settling and uptake of pollutants, wildlife, and related cost estimates for the project.
Webster City Elks Club Engineering & Design
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students conducted a structural analysis of the historic Elks Club Building in downtown Webster City. The project included design alternatives for the interior and facade of the building based on several options for future use of the building.
Webster City Amphitheater Engineering & Design
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided design alternatives for an outdoor amphitheater in Webster City.
A local benefactor in the Webster City community would like to see and financially support the creation of an outdoor amphitheater at the bottom of Hospital Hill at Brewer Creek Park. Set in the natural valley alongside Brewer Creek and the Brewer Creek Trail, this location would be a perfect spot for outdoor concerts and gatherings.
Webster City - Boone River Recreation Engineering & Design
As part of the Senior Design Capstone Course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students designed enhanced recreational opportunities on the Boone River by improving portage around a low overhead dam in Webster City's City Park and designing improved water access points.
Keokuk Marina, Boat Ramps & Parking Lot Design
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students designed a new marina with boat ramps and a parking lot in the city of Keokuk, whoch would provide an additional access point for residents and vistors to enjoy water recreation on the Mississippi River.
Keokuk Fitness Trail - Trail Engineering and Design
Civil & Engineering and Sport & Recreation Management students provided design alternatives, cost estimates, and fitness recommendations for a proposed fitness trail connecting several community facilities and amenities in Keokuk.
The community of Keokuk seeks to develop more outdoor recreational opportunities for use of people of all ages, which they consider integral in recruiting and retaining residents. They hope to add new trails and route development, however the cost and access to land can be prohibited.
Keokuk Downtown/Riverfront Connection Engineering & Design
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students create designs for redevelopment of the bluff and open space between downtown Keokuk and the Mississippi River, so that the downtown district is better connected with the riverfront.
Keokuk - Lee County's Chatfield Park Campground Upgrades
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students provided designs and cost estimates for improvements in Lee County's Chatfield Park Campground.
Keokuk - Schools Lead Testing and Remediation
The University of Iowa Center for Health Effects of Environmental Contamination (CHEEC), through its Grants to Schools Program, partnered with the Keokuk Community School District to test for lead in school drinking water and provide assistance for the minimal remediation determined to be necessary.
Pennsylvania Ave Complete Streets Design Alternatives
As part of their Senior Design Capstone course, Civil & Environmental Engineering students created complete street designs for Pennsylvania Avenue in Mason City.
