Tourism Communications
Graduate students in a communications campaigns course partnered with several different organizations across the Siouxland region to complete six different communication campaigns about different attractions and assets in the Siouxland region.
The Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Organization sought to contribute to the Siouxland area’s economic development by promoting the area as a destination for tourism. To do so, they sought research on the tourism assets of the area and how the region could differentiate its attractions from those of surrounding areas.
The reports cover topics from Sioux City’s “Tourist in your own town” program to Monona County’s parklands to the scenic and educational value of the Loess Hills.
Each campaign includes the following elements: background research on the area/topic; messages that have been developed to promote the tourism assets of that area/topic; communications tools to promote those messages; and audio presentation.
