Students in a capstone Civil and Environmental Engineering program will design a site plan for the subdivision that will maximize the number of homes that can be developed. They may include plans for a pocket park as part of the project, setting the example for future developments. 

Like many Iowa communities, West Burlington is seeking to grow its housing stock. There is currently an undeveloped parcel that is bounded on the north by Mt. Pleasant Street, on the south by Huston Street, and on the east by Vernon Street. Given its location within the school district's boundaries and proximity to infrastructure, it's considered to be a critical parcel.
