Keokuk Branding & Style Guide
Students in the School of Art & Art History Graphic Design course developed a new branding and style guide for Keokuk.
In January of 2009, Keokuk adopted a central brand identity with a Branding & Style Guide. This was developed in partnership with the Chamber, Economic Development, Tourism, Mainstreet and the City. The purpose of the brand initiative was to promote and reinforce a message of confidence in Keokuk’s future. The Style Guide was created to help strengthen and clarify the recognition value of Keokuk’s name and the graphic symbols and marks that are associated with it.
The 2009 Branding and Style Guide continues to be adopted by the majority of the partner organizations and city, however community leaders feel the need for a new and updated branding and style guide. Graphic Design students worked with the community to develop alternatives for a new logo and tagline. For the chosen tagline, students picked up on something they heard from Keokuk Mayor Tom Richardson during their community visit, when he said "Keokuk is a place where anyone can make their mark." This discussion resulted in the new tagline "Make Your Mark."
Final deliverables include logos, brand guidelines, digital and print strategies, mockups, and more.
