Michael Fallon

Adjunct Instructor, Earth and Environmental Sciences
Biography

Michael (Mike) Fallon has taught “Prairie Restoration,” a field course in the UI Dept. of Earth and Environmental Sciences, for six years. Before becoming an Adjunct Instructor, Mike owned and operated "Native Landscaping, LLC," a landscaping company that specialized in restoring prairie, savanna and woodland.  Mike co-wrote the initial design plan for what would become the Ashton Prairie Living Laboratory (APLL).  For this project, he assisted in securing permission from the UI Dept. of Athletics to restore a one-acre prototype or trial prairie at the Ashton Cross Country Course. Students in his Prairie Restoration course assisted in sowing the initial native plant seed for the one- and sevent-acre prairie restorations at the APLL. Mike is a strong advocate of ecological restoration and experiential learning in living laboratories on the UI campus and elsewhere.
